Hello! My name is Patti Worthington.   I am the Music Teacher for Pre K thru 6th and Service Project Coordinator for 7th & 8th Grade and 2nd thru 6th Grade Religion Teacher at St. Malachy School. I have been teaching at St. Malachy School for the last 18 1/2 years.  I grew up in Rantoul and attended RCS & RTHS and St. Malachy Catholic Church and its CCD Program. I also am one of the Eucharist Ministers for the Church. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1989. I am married to Tony Worthington.  We have 2 children a daughter Marrison who is 25 and a son Ryne who is 23. They both graduated from St.  Malachy School. My hobbies are spending time with my family, bike riding, watching movies and gardening. In all the Music classes I teach General Music Education.  In PreK and Kindergarten & 1st we focus on the concepts -Beat, Tempo, Tone Color, Melody, and Rhythm. In  2nd & 3rd Grade we focus on the concepts-Meter, Melody, Form, Tone Color, Dynamics and Rhythm. In 4th & 5th Grade we focus on the concepts- Melody, Rhythm, Harmony, Meter, Tonality, Tempo, Expression Form and Style. In 6th Grade we focus on the concepts- Rhythm, Melody, Tone Color, Form, Part Singing, Ensemble, Intonation, Dance Steps, and Style. All classes are involved in both the Christmas and Spring Programs.   PreK thru 6th grade levels-Program Season- focus on performing, memorization of songs and speaking parts, cooperation and team work. 7th and 8th grade levels- Program Season- focus on building scene, chalking, and painting, props, learning the job for performances-backstage/lights/sound/props/spot lights /microphones, along with cooperation and team work. 7th & 8th Service Projects- Help promote service within our community to help individuals in need. 2nd Grade Religion- we focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion. 3rd & 4th Grade Religion- we focus on faith, which is belief and trust in a God who knows us, loves us, and calls us by name. We will become familiar with the mysteries of faith that we profess in the Apostles’ Creed. Through events from both the Old and the New Testaments of the bible. 5th Grade Religion-we focus on all the Seven Sacraments at this level. 6th Grade Religion- we focus on the Old Testament in the Bible.  I’m excited and eager to help provide an opportunity for each student at St. Malachy School to mature spiritually, intellectually, culturally, socially and physically.   I have had many rewarding experiences while working with your children.  These experiences at St. Malachy School have continued to help me grow, and continue to help children develop their character and enhance their love of Music, Community and GOD.
